Consumer Unit Replacements

Consumer Units or Fuse Boxes protect and control the electrical power between the electricity supplier fuse and meter, and the property. They may be simply a bank of rewireable fuses and a main switch or a panel holding protection devices against over current, earth faults, transient spike suppression. 17th Edition Consumer Units provide a high degree of protection to the residents or building occupier. Texell Systems will advise on your existing installation and recommend safety upgrades if

Rewires

Electrical rewires may be required due to old, compromised or dangerous cabling. Typically though a full house rewire is performed in old properties undergoing refurbishment or major works. More common is the provision of circuit cabling for a new kitchen or shower installation. Most existing housing stock in the UK do not legally require re-wires, but Texell Systems will give an honest appraisal for you to make an informed decision.

Repairs

Electrical repairs may take many forms and can be the most challenging jobs. They may be due to component breakdown as with heating system or lighting controls, others' poor workmanship or even vermin attack. We have dealt with many of these types of jobs with some involving rats and squirrels casuing faults which are fiercely difficult to trace. Texell Systems will bring the experience and tenacity to solve even these problems.

Emergency Lighting

Emergency Lighting systems are installed now in nearly all commercial buildings. Some systems comprise a central battery backed power unit linked with protected cabling to light units. Usually though there are two types of light fittings installed. The first are standalone or combined units inside the building which automatically operate on power failure to provide enough light for building evacuation. The second type is standalone units at emergency escape routes and doorways inside and outside to provide a fully lit escape route. Texell Systems' experience has been mainly church and community halls and buildings.

Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is essentially a survey of an electrical installation. They are typically performed in commercial installations where auditing systems and sometimes insurance require that electrical installations are checked and a full report generated. All installations including domestic should be checked at least every 10 years although typically only done as part of a pre sale situation. Texell Systems is happy to perform EICR inspections.

PAT Testing

Portable Appliance Testing is carried out as part of an electrical surveillance program to ensure that equipment within an establishment is safe. The Electricity at Work Regulations [1989 Regulation 4(2)] requires that:

“As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as reasonably practical, such danger”

PAT testing should be part of a formal, recorded inspection and testing program which includes regular visual inspection. Texell Systems has performed thousands of PAT tests and can be an integrated part of your electrical safety program.
